First impressions count!

How many times have you heard that saying?

But nothing could be more right with your blog theme.

Once you’ve chosen your niche and domain, you need a theme that is going to catch the eye of your visitors. A theme that is both mobile responsive and loads like lightning!

Users and Google both like fast loading sites, so speed is definitely an important factor when choosing your theme.

“Fast sites create happy users…that’s why we’ve decided to take site speed into account in our search rankings.” Google

You’ll find all these themes are fully mobile responsive, and you can test them in multiple sizes on the demo pages.

When you’re choosing your theme, think about the type of content you are going to produce and then decide which theme will showcase that best.

Do you need:

  • A clean, spartan theme that emphasizes the typography
  • An image-centric theme for your photography
  • A multi-functional theme to get your visitors to take a particular action

Sit back and check this excellent selection of eye-catching themes and remember to choose the best one for your blog.

A note about theme memberships vs. one-off purchases

As you scroll through the various featured themes below you’ll notice that some vendors offer a one-off payment for their theme, whilst others offer a theme membership scheme.

Which is best?

This will depend on your requirements and budget.

Personally, I started off with a single theme purchase from StudioPress and then moved to a theme membership with Thrive Themes. At the time StudioPress didn’t have a membership scheme, but I wouldn’t have committed at an early stage anyway.

Membership scheme:

Pros:

  • Continued support even after initial warranty period
  • Access to other products like plugins, plus any future products
  • Locked in price when you join, so great value as more products added

Cons:

  • Can be expensive compared to a single theme if you have a small budget
  • Might not benefit from a selection of different themes and be happy to stick with your current theme, although most bloggers do tend to change every so often to freshen their blog up
  • Might feel trapped with one developer when you like the look of another vendor; e.g. signed up for Thrive Themes, but fancy the new theme from Elegant Themes

FYI, here are the current theme membership prices:

Thrive Themes

Thrive Membership = $228/year includes everything (currently ten themes and five plugins)

Agency Membership = $588/year (as above but licensed to use on client sites)
